As a parent, the summer is about catching up on the many projects that have accumulated during the school year. Less time spent in the car means that I finally have time to put all those pictures into photo albums (yes, good ol’ fashioned photo albums…had an ugly falling out with the whole scrapbooking thing), touch-up the numerous paint defects throughout the house, organize the garage, clean the ceiling fans…it goes on and on…
As a writer, the summer is about researching agents, polishing my query and completing that summary that continues to elude me. With a circus of children around the house all day it’s impossible to spend large blocks of time on a new novel but it’s proving a challenge to complete even a paragraph of synopsis either. And with the ‘summer chorelist’ continually teasing me it’s oh-so-easy to justify further summary procrastination in lieu of dirty fan blades.
How do people write at night? I wish I could do it but my mind is a vast desert of nothingness after 8 pm.
Oh well, wish me luck. I’m working on that summary right after I finish this post….I think.
Keep on writing!
